Anxiety Sweating

Starting in middle school, I began to sweat profusely, and this is the time I began to find a way to stop underarm sweat.

I would come in from lunch break which would include some activity and my armpit areas would just be soaked for inches in every direction. Of course this was initiated by the activity but in comparison to the other kids doing the same thing I was much wetter

Eventually if I sat down and focused on the lesson and not on my wetness, I would relax, cool off and it would temporarily stop underarm sweat. This didn’t help the fact that my shirt was really a wet mess. Fortunately I lived close to the school and could actually go home for lunch if I wanted to. When I started doing this, I was able to change shirts before I went back. Provided I cooled of enough to stop underarm sweat from re-hydrating on the walk back, I was once again normal among my peers

Some of the other kids noticed the changed shirts. Mom noticed she was doing more laundry. I wasn’t out of the woods yet. I started taking off my shirt at home and using a hair dryer to dry out the pits. This did solve the problem but the antiperspirant I was using would then build up more than normal on the shirts.

I needed a real solution to stop underarm sweat, not just hiding it

I found that shaving the hair from the area actually reduced my sweating and I mean it was a significant reduction. I was never a smelly person but it also cut down on the stick that could happen. This I know now is due to much less places (hair) for the bacteria to grow on

Another thing that helped was changing brands of antiperspirant. They all use some aluminum based compound as the active ingredient, but the concentrations and exact compounds do differ. So try changing brands, it is a cheap and easy way to improve your situation and is the first step you should try to slow or stop underarm sweat.
